Perugia sta così, in alto, come se fosse fra le mani di quei santi protettori che tengono con garbo le città miniaturizzate e intorno hanno un baratro d'aria.

Sì, Perugia è città che pare volare. Luogo magico che nelle sere d'inverno, quando la nebbia arriva dal basso, resta sospesa con la sua Acropoli librata nel crepuscolo.

E nelle giornate luminose, invece, guardando l'Umbria che si stende ai suoi piedi, dalla Rocca Paolina ecco spuntare Assisi e poi più in avanti la piana che porta nel cuore della regione, fino al Clitunno, a Spoleto.

Perugia è anche questo: panorami che tolgono il fiato e che si spalancano all'improvviso, magari nel mezzo di uno di quei vicoli che attraversano la città antica come mille torrenti. Batte ancora il cuore antico della capitale Umbra .

Perugia stands so high up, than it seems to be held, as it were, between the hands of the patron saints who keep gentle watch over the city and are surrounded by airy dephts.

Indeed, Perugia is a city which seems to float in the air. A magic place, which in the winter evenings when the mist comes up from below, remains suspended with its acropolis balanced in the twilight.

And in contrast, on the briht days when you look over Umbria spreading out at its feet, from the Rocca Paolina you can see Assisi rising in the distance, and closer at hand the plain, which leads to the heart of the region, as far as Clitunno and Spoleto.

Perugia is this, too: breathtaking views that appear quite unexpectedly, even in the middle of one of those narrow little streets which cross the ancient city like a thousand streams. The Etruscan heart of the capital of Umbria still beats.
